I don’t why I have been so shy about writing this post, but I saw Bruno Mars in concert at the end of September. I have been a fan of his since I first heard him sing. Seeing him live, however, has brought me to a new level of fan-girling. (I didn’t scream out loud at the concert and maintained my dignity.) Bruno is the best live performer I have ever seen. I would totally recommend going to his concerts and plan to see him again as soon as I can.
Here are my top 3 reasons that I adore him:
- Songwriting skills. He can write a song that will make you want to dance like “Uptown Funk” or a silky ballad like “Versace on the Floor.” He demonstrates bravado on songs like “Finesse” and sensitivity on songs like “When I Was Your Man.” I have yet to meet a person that doesn’t like at least one of his songs.
- Dance moves. He is pure energy in person. He barely takes a break in between songs. He and his crew execute perfectly choreographed dance routines. Bruno is reminiscent of performers like Prince or James Brown. You won’t see him standing woodenly in front of the microphone like some performers do. He will give you a show.
- Voice. Bruno sounds better in person. What can be better than that? His voice is already impressive listening to a song or watching a video. In person, he is absolute magic.
He definitely gave one of the best live performances that I have ever seen. The only other artist that I’ve seen in-person who sounds better live than on wax is John Legend. So glad to be able to witness talent like this in my lifetime.
