I’ve written hundreds of poems over the years, beginning at age 11. I’ve been re-reading them recently and discovered some of them are worth sharing. I wrote this particular poem after my puppy, Lyric died on November 9, 1994.
Pain
It hurts me deep inside my soul
Why must pain be like this?
A grip with that tight, tight hold
I must let the tears run down my face
To try to let happiness takes pain’s place
My breath is caught down in myself
I feel as if I have nothing left
But that pain
Pain, pain, pain
Please go away
Haven’t I paid
Enough?
Just leave me alone
And let me try to be tough.
