My heart broke a little earlier this week when I read about the death of Luke Perry. Back when 90210 was a new show, it was my obsession. I even had a mini magazine that folded out into a poster (ordered from one of those school book club forms). I remember begging my mother for the Brenda doll in Meijer, but I didn’t get it. (Knowing me, I probably had recently successfully begged for another toy.) I shipped Brenda and Dylan long before I knew what a ship was. The 90210 “kids” were who I wanted to be when I was older and I thought they were the coolest thing ever.
I recently started re-watching 90210. It is one of those shows that I watched back then, but still enjoy now. It will be tinged with a bit of sadness from now on with the passing of Luke Perry, but Dylan and friends will always have a place in my heart.

i watched 90210 growing up – in portuguese, not english , though i re-watched some episodes in english later when i was older. They were so cool, and like you, i wanted to be like them – have fun and friends and love the way they did.
