Am I the only one who needs to watch something funny after dealing with this week? I will be rewatching one of my favorites: Romy and Michele’s High School Reunion. I love so many elements of this movie. First of it starts with one of my favorite songs from the 1990’s, No Doubt’s “Just A Girl.” Secondly, the fashion in this movie is so fun. Dare I say it is like an adult’s version of Clueless. From their club outfits to their workout clothes, the clothes are super 1990’s style and copied by many designers and stores at the time. If I dressed up for Halloween, I would wear a costume inspired by this movie.
I also really appreciate the messages of this movie, which are to be yourself and not define your success or your life based on what other people think or what other people are doing.
This movie is funny, as I mentioned. Lisa Kudrow’s deadpan responses are hilarious. The movie does get silly at times, but it is on purpose. The movie wants you to laugh at it.
Romy and Michele is the perfect, lighthearted way to start the weekend.
