Almost every summer, there is a song that I play on repeat. I already found that song for this year and it is Lana Del Rey’s “Doin’ Time,” which is a remake of the Sublime song from 1996. The way you can tell that this is an awesome remake is that it sounds like it could be one of the songs that Lana wrote herself. Lana’s music has a California feel to it, as does this song.
I start every morning listening to this song. If I can’t play it immediately, I am usually humming it or singing it. I would definitely recommend this one. It is one of the things Lana Del Rey does best, with the summer anthem (see “Summertime Sadness” or the sadly underrated “Summer Bummer”) and the west coast sound.
