This poem was written around 1994 or 1995. Even though I was still young, I felt pressure to figure out my life and where it was going. This pressure tended to make me feel unmotivated sometimes because I felt like I wasn’t doing enough to change my life and I didn’t know what could make it better.
Passin’ Me By
The world’s just passin’ me by
I just sit and lie
Knowing I should do something
Before it’s my time to die
The sun is going down on me
I wonder what I will grow to be
I hope it’s something good
Anything is better than
Living in the hood
The day’s ending
The world’s spinnin’
Everything’s happening
Except me
Everything’s happening
That’s what I think
But this world’s just
Passin’ me by.

Dimplesandgrins.com is on a joy seeking mission. It is a place of celebration and inspiration. At the same time, I am not afraid to explore the darker, sadder parts of life because life consists of both joyful and sorrowful moments (plus, a lot of other emotions).
