A Poem – Week Thirty-Seven

I wish I could bottle the passion and motivation that my younger self had. I could use a sip of that every now and then. I love the slang and the reference to one of my favorite songs, Jodeci “Get On Up.” This poem was written on August 25, 1996.

Time Is Not Forever

Time is not forever

If you want something

Do it right now

No time to waste

No time to sit down

“Get On Up”

Like Jodeci said

If you can’t, shut up

Let others have theirs

Time is not forever

So while you can

Get it together

Go for yours

While you can

If you can’t

Don’t blame “the man”

Cause time is not forever

While you have the chance

Get it together.
