A Poem # 8

Here’s a poem from around 1994 about a love that has burned out. By the way, “ends” is slang for money.

Flame

I can’t believe the love has gone

We were together oh so long

And together we had feelings so very strong

What happened to the flame

That used to burn hot and high?

Why did our love have to die?

We were so close and tight

We loved each other with all our might

All though the day

And all through the night

We thought that with all the love we would be so tight.

Then, we started to drift apart

Maybe we shouldn’t have tried to keep our feelings in the dark

We started to think about our ends

And forgot to be friends

What happened to the flame

That used to be hot and high

Why did our love have to die?
