A Poem # 32

I think this poem written on March 14, 1996 was during my rapper phase. The language is definitely rougher, coarser and more street and slang influenced. I’m going to save myself the embarrassment by not posting the last third of the poem. I don’t want to talk about it (shaking my head at my younger self.)

Fake

While you’re busy smiling in my face

You’re thinking about a girl to take my place

While you say that you care about me

You’re thinking about the other chicks that may be

You’re fake

Fake as be

You thought I couldn’t see

You’re fake.

How much more can I take?

Can’t decide what you like to do

Talk to me thinking that I like you

But that isn’t true

As soon as I am out of sight

You’re always trying to make some hype.

Why you gotta tell my life?

If I could

I’d like to slice you with a knife

You’d like to be my sunshine friend

The only thing you are are is fake to the end.

You’re fake

Fake as can be

You thought I couldn’t see

You’re fake.

How much more can I take?
