A Poem # 35

Here’s a poem that I wrote on July 31, 1995.

The Moonlight Dream

It seemed so real

But it was only a dream

That I can’t figure out what it means

It was me and you

The skies were midnight blue

You were holding my hand

I felt so high

It felt so right

No matter the time of the night

All that stood between us was the moonlight

I woke up with a smile on my face

I stood up, looked around

But you weren’t in your place

I felt so down

It was then I realized it was only

A dream

A moonlight dream

That night I went to bed early

With hopes you’ll be in my dream

I want to figure out what it means

As soon as I finally went to sleep

There you were again

This time in a jeep

I tried to walk towards you

But my shaky knees wouldn’t allow me

I can’t see

Why you had shaken me

It was then I realized it was only

A dream

And I still can’t figure out what it means.
