This is the title poem from my second poetry book. The link to the book is below if you want to purchase. It contains 30 poems and most of the poems have a corresponding original photo.
Also, I’m currently working on my third poetry book. It should be out by the end of the year.
Asleep and dreaming
My dreams remind me of what could have been,
If I had chosen a different path or a different city.
Dreams remind me of my need for adventure.
In dreams I am solving crimes and swimming with sharks.
Working through all of life’s problems,
Solving them in ways I couldn’t imagine.
Dreams take me to new places
That I’ve never been, I’m not sure they exist,
But while I’m there, I’m living and flourishing.
Dreams reunite me with loved ones
People who are long gone, where
Only in dreams can I hug and talk to them.
Dreams aren’t always pleasant.
They surface dark thoughts and
Lost memories I’ve tried to repress
And force me to work through trauma
And awaken to a brighter day.
As I drift off to sleep each night,
I wonder what I will dream.
