Life can be busy. Life can be hard. Sometimes, you get caught up in your own chaos, so much that you don’t realize that other people are going through difficult times as well. One of the simplest things you can do for another person is to just check in to see how they are doing. Speaking from experience, sometimes it seems like I am alone and no one cares. Yes, people probably care about me or are thinking about me, but does it seem that way when I am alone in my house and have not received a call or text, or even a social media message? No, it does not.
Sometimes, it can be hard to support people who are going through difficult times. So, you don’t know what to say to them and you don’t want to say the wrong thing. You can send them a note, flowers or a treat you know they would enjoy.
The point is to let the person know you care and you are there for them. You never know what a difference a small gesture could make.
I am not a very social person, but I have been making an effort to connect more with family and friends via social media. I’m not the type to have long phone conversations, but I do want to show that I recognize people’s existence.
To anyone out there who is feeling alone, know that you’re not. Someone cares for you, even if it’s just the woman writing this post.
