A Poem # 22

This poem from 1995 is about a newly broken heart.

Since You’ve Been Away

Since you’ve been away

I haven’t seen the light of day

I’m trapped in the dark

Just me and my broken heart

I can’t go on without you

You got me singing the blues

Since you’ve been away

The world is cold

I don’t have anyone to hold

My heart is broken

Since you’ve been away

I count the days

Since you’ve been gone away.

Since you’ve been away

These tears haven’t stopped falling from my eyes

I try to keep myself going by telling lies

That you will come back someday

How I hope and pray

That’s what I do every day

Since you’ve been away

The world is cold

I don’t have anyone to hold

My heart is broken

Since you’ve been away

I count the days

That you’ve been gone away.
